Graphic design & photo editing for Gilt.com, a luxury flash sale site
background
Gilt.com is a luxury members-only flash sale site. I completed my second co-op through Northeastern here as a graphic designer. I designed the "doors" that when clicked led to a specific flash sale. We ran hundreds of sales weekly, requiring a fast turnaround time of about 7-10 doors in a day.
PROBLEM
Stunning photography and graphics were key to draw users of the site into the flash sales, where they would then see the products available. This became particularly important as COVID-19 threatened sales and shut down our photo studios. Readability of type (when applicable), adherence to Gilt and quarterly branding, and appropriate selection of photos were my main design considerations.
process
For doors, I retouched photos and preformed mild to major Photoshop edits to suit each photo to the specific sale, our quarterly theme, and our personas. When photos were not provided, I used our database to find suitable images.
I also took on larger marketing projects such as email campaigns and internal materials including an onboarding guide and quarterly brand books. Juggling these long term projects with flash sale doors could be challenging and required good time management, as well as knowing when to ask for help.
